Carol Christensen, RN, a nurse in the long term care unit at Greene County Medical Center, was honored with as the sixth DAISY Award recipient at a ceremony Wednesday morning at the medical center.
The DAISY Award is used to recognize exceptional patient care in more than 1,700 medical facilities worldwide. Recipients are nominated by patients and their families or by co-workers.
Nominees along with Christensen were Maria Bretey, who also works in the long term care unit, case manager Allie Hamilton, and acute care nurse Jodi Schroeder.
Nominations are blinded and the winner is selected by a local committee at the medical center.
Christensen was nominated by long term care resident Vic Eslick. He nominated her because she is helpful and nice and always has a happy smile on her face. Eslick was at the award ceremony and was very pleased to see her receive the award.
